I've recently received two pairs of TWS earphones for evaluation. The first set, Fiil's new T1XS, proved to be quite impressive.

Today I am reviewing the Fiil T1X. While similarly designed, these are a slightly older and less expensive model.

The FIIL T1X earbuds arrived packaged in a protective foam container.

The case, which doubles as the earphones' power bank, is fitted with two LED charging indicators and a USB-C charging port. It weighs in at 1.6 ounces and measures 3 inches across, 1.4-inches deep, and 1.2 inches in height. Both the earpieces and the case's cover are held into place magnetically.

Each earbud weighs about one-fifth of an ounce. Three sets of ear wings and four pairs of earpads are provided to ensure a proper fit. Also included are a charging cable and a user's guide.

TWS Technology

True Wireless Stereo refers to a technology that allows two audio devices to be paired via Bluetooth. In the case of earbuds, different transmissions can be sent to the left and right earpieces. This permits the reception of a stereo signal.

The FIIL T1X earbuds are Bluetooth 5.0 capable and compatible with earlier versions. This device paired quickly and easily to both my smartphone and computer. These earphones, which are equipped with microphones, can be used to make calls.

The T1X earbuds performed exceptionally well throughout my series of Bluetooth tests. I could wander entirely around the interior of my house without losing reception.

A minor hiccup occurred as I moved into the front porch. This was not unexpected. At that point, four walls obstructed the signal. While the reception was never wholly lost, it did degrade as I circled the building

The FIIL Application

I found this software quite flexible, although I wish the volume control were easier to locate and use.

The application allows two modes of operation and is set initially to Full Control Mode. In this case, the user may adjust volume and switch tracks employing the earphones' touch-screen buttons. In Easy Mode, the application is used to control these features. Since the application can only adjust the earphones when they are paired with your phone, I recommend the use of Full Control Mode.

This application includes options allowing the user to select from a variety of pre-set EQ settings. Bass or treble can also be increased at the touch of a button. I find this setup more straightforward than the full-blown equalizer available for users of the Fiil T1XS.

The earpieces appear to be well made and, once I'd selected the proper earpads, fit snugly and securely. I could wear these earbuds for far longer than expected without discomfort.

These devices are rated IPX5. While you cannot go swimming with these earphones, they are sweatproof and can withstand a bit of rain. The storage box provides protection and keeps the earphones charged when not in use.

Sound Quality

Low, mid, and high range notes were clear, clean, and well separated, although I could detect a little muddiness at times. Bass was also slightly over-accentuated, but, for me, that is a plus. Generally, I was impressed by the sound reproduced by these earphones.

Battery Life

When I maintained a volume level between 50-60 percent, a single charge lasted about six hours. Higher levels of volume will increase power usage. As the storage case can recharge the earphones three times, the total operating time ranges between 18 and 24 hours.

Overall Impression

I like these earphones. They are comfortable, fit snugly, and reproduce music quite well. Battery life is excellent, and the total package is small enough to fit into a pocket. I found the EQ settings provided by the application to be helpful, although this software fails to include several useful options available to owners of the Fiil T1Xs. The FIIL T1X is strongly recommended.
